Your new challenge
The Financial Controller plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the financial integrity of the fund and its management entities. In this position, you ensure that stakeholders receive clear, reliable and timely financial insights that support confident decision-making. You bring structure and oversight to financial reporting, tax compliance and audit processes, while maintaining a strong grip on cash flows and liquidity across the organization. You collaborate closely with investment managers and engage with portfolio companies to provide guidance on complex reporting and accounting matters.
This is a new role in the organization, and the content of the role will develop based on organization needs and personal capabilities.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure timely, accurate and relevant financial reporting of the fund and the management entities to all stakeholders, internal and external, in line with reporting standards such as IFRS and IPEV.
- Prepare VAT and other tax filings.
- Prepare annual financial statements, in accordance with Dutch GAAP and IFRS.
- Support the external audit process, including planning, information gathering and issue resolution.
- Monitor cash flows, funding needs and liquidity across entities.
- Liaise with investee company management on financial topics where necessary, including occasional site visits or audits.
- Supporting the Investment managers with financial / reporting expertise.

Aqua-Spark is currently preparing the launch of its second fund, focused on advancing sustainable aquaculture in Africa.
Your profile
- Bachelor’s degree (HBO/Applied sciences) in accountancy or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role
- Proven experience with preparing annual financial statements and interim reporting.
- Experience at a fund administrator or an investment fund is a pre
- Knowledge of IFRS and/or Dutch GAAP
- Experience in supporting external audits is a pre
- Knowledge of IPEV is a pre
- Proficient in English. Dutch is a pre
- Willingness to travel. Expected approx. once per month
